TRAIN TO PUNO
The spectacular journey begins at the city of Cusco, and runs south to the beautiful city of Puno, on the shores of the Titicaca Lake. The train starts to ascend up to higher and cooler lands. The magnificent Andean mountains dominate the first half of the journey, towering over deep valleys of the meandering Huatanay River, reaching the gentle Andean plains where vicuñas and alpacas are often seen. Travelling on board the Andean Explorer offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy spectacular sightseeing, thanks to the new glass walled observation car. The journey is interrupted in La Raya, highest point on the route and mandatory scenic stop.

The
popular Andean train will take us across a spectacular journey through the
Andes mountains and valleys along the banks of the Vilcanota Sacred River.
It offers three types of services: the Backpacker (for those with
adventure spirit looking for comfort, not luxury); the Vistadome (offers
panoramic windows, roomy seats and on-board service) and the exclusive
Hiram Bingham (luxury service with on-board meals and beverages). The
journey takes 4 hours from Cusco to the town of Aguas Calientes. From
there, a 20 minute ride by bus will take you the Inca citadel of Machu
Picchu. The train service offers three daily departures and arrivals
from/at Cusco.
This
train will take us along the Route of the Sun, which connects main tourist
attractions and destinations such as Machu Picchu, the Titicaca Lake and
the cities of Cusco, Juliaca and Puno. Two types of services are
offered: the Backpacker and the Andean Explorer.
